One
of Timescale Adventures' current research projects is
Kahn's Cache, (also known as T.A.1997.002). From 1997 through
2002, we collected over 1,500 individual fossilized bones
(including fossils in field jackets). Also the jacketing and
removal of a large plaster jacket that we we called "B.O.B"(#1337)(Bob the Blob, Big old
Bones), that weighed in at 10,800 lbs. Kahn's Cache and
B.O.B, have many secrets for us to find out in the coming
years. From this quarry we identified 9 different dinosaurs:
3 individuals from the genus Daspletosaurus: 1 large
adult, 1 medium sized adult, and a sub-adult,
(Daspletosaurus is an early relative of Tyrannosaurus
rex )
6 Lambeosaurine Hadrosaurs (crested duck-billed dinosaurs) 2
large adults, 1 sub-adult, 2 juvenile and 1 sub-juvenile.
This
year’s research will continue in the local portion of the
Two Medicine Formation and in the Jutith River Formation. We also
hope to finish work on some of the previous years' sites.
Join us this summer, 2008, and help dig a dinosaur!
